The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, arrived in the city of Al-Ghaydah on an emergency visit to Al-Mahra Governorate in support of the efforts of the local authorities to confront the potential repercussions of Tropical Cyclone “Tej” that is entering the eastern governorates this week.
Immediately upon his arrival, the President met with the Governor of Al-Mahra Governorate, Muhammad Ali Yasser, and the leaders of the local authority, in the presence of the Minister of Public Works and Roads, Engineer Salem Al-Aboudi, and the Director of the Office of the Head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh.
The president had made contacts with the governors of the governorates of Hadhramaut, Mabkhout bin Madi, and Raafat Al-Thaqali, to learn about the procedures of the three governorates to deal with the effects of the tropical cyclone that entered the Socotra archipelago on Sunday on its way to Al-Mahra and the eastern parts of Hadhramaut.
The Chairman of the Presidential Command Council will be briefed on the level of implementation of precautionary measures and the extent of coordination between local and governmental authorities and regional and international organizations to confront all possibilities and limit the expected impacts on citizens and public and private property. The President will also be briefed on the progress of executive work in Al-Mahra Governorate, and the level of supplies and basic services in various sectors.
The Early Warning Center had urged citizens in the eastern governorates to take the utmost caution with the onset of the effects of the tropical condition on Socotra Governorate and its approach to the Al-Mahra and Hadhramaut governorates, and the accompanying heavy rainfall and the intensification of wind speeds on the coastal areas and territorial waters.
