Yemen’s Information Minister has accused the Houthi militia of seeking to bury the evidences of” their involvement in burning hundreds of African refugees in Sana’a. At least 30 migrants were reportedly burned to death and hundreds others were severely wounded.

In a statement to the state-run news agency Saba, Muammar al-Eryani alluded to the Houthi responsibility for the crime saying the Houthi militia made attempts to “bury the evidences of the crime which pictures and videos showed the size of.”

He said that prior to the incident, the militia had collected African refugees to the detention facility in Sana’a and had them to “choose between joining the militia’s radicalization and military courses in preparation to send them to the anti-government fronts or … be deported back” home both of which were rejected.

Al-Eryani strongly condemned the crime and demanded the international community to both investigate into the crime and weigh on the Iran-affiliate militia to stop recruiting African migrants to the frontlines in the war with the government.
