Houthis arrest 50 civilians in Sana’a

Alsahwa Net-The Houthis carried out this week massive arbitrary arrests in the capital Sana’a and detained 50 citizens claiming that the detainees “cooperate with the Saudi-led coalition.”

The local news Website Al-Asima online reported that the Houthis arrested 50 civilians in Sana’a alleging that they are security wanted for “providing support to the Saudi-led coalition.”

The Houthis often intimidate people, storm their houses and arrest men in areas of their control using the claim that victims cooperate with the Saudi-led coalition or the internationally recognized government.

Human right defenders say that the Houthis use such fabricated charges against civilian detainees to punish them over expression of their political opinion.

Thousands of civilian detainees including politicians, journalists, students and women remain in the prison since the Houthis rebelled against the government in late 2014.
