Houthi armed militia, the de facto rulers of northern Yemen, abducted a teacher in Ibb province, southwest of Yemen, in a continued campaign of intimidation, sectarian bigotry, and repression against Sunni Muslims.
Local sources reported that the militia kidnapped Khaled Al-Qadri, deputy head of Omar Bin Khattab Educational Complex in Jibla district, who also serves as imam and preacher at his village mosque.
This incident marks another in a series of abductions by Houthi militia in Ibb province since May and June, targeting dozens of Sunni citizens including doctors, teachers, lawyers, and academics, in a apparent effort to purge the region of non-Shia influences. The Shia militants are backed by several malign actors.
