Houthi Militia Seeks New War After Losing Gaza Cover for Crimes

The Houthi militia, backed by Iran, is desperately seeking a new war to justify its existence after losing its propaganda cover following the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

Leader Abdulmalik Houthi recently delivered a defiant speech rejecting peace and vowing to continue the "battle", revealing the militia's anxiety over losing its pretext for oppression and violence against Yemenis.

Analysts say the militia was the biggest regional loser from the Gaza ceasefire deal, as it can no longer exploit the Palestinian issue to justify its brutality domestically.

The Houthis had used Gaza as a ready-made excuse to silence critics, suppress dissent, and recruit fighters, while tightening its grip on Yemeni society.

Internationally, Arab governments and people welcomed the Gaza ceasefire, while Iran-backed militias like the Houthis launched coordinated media attacks against Arab initiatives, labeling them as surrender to international pressure.

Domestically, the Houthis escalated military operations in some Yemeni fronts, attempting to create a new war to revive its fading legitimacy and distract from its failing governance.

Military analyst Brigadier General Mohammad Kumaim stated that the Houthi's aggressive moves aim to compensate for losing external justification and maintain perpetual tension to ensure its grip.
