Houthi Militia Ramps Up Abductions in Ibb's Rural Areas

The Houthi militia has intensified its abduction campaign in Ibb, targeting rural areas and districts beyond the provincial center.

According to local sources, the militia has launched a fresh wave of abductions in Al-Nadirah District, east of Ibb, snatching teacher Rizq Taher Al-Lahbi and professors Jamal Al-Shamili and Anwar Hammoud Al-Salmi, aka "Al-Tuwaiti."

The abductees are all education professionals, with Al-Lahbi holding a director role in the local education administration and Al-Shamili teaching Arabic.

This crackdown is part of a larger pattern of Houthi abductions in the region, with over ten individuals seized in nearby Al-Sadda District in recent days.

In Yarim District, northeast of Ibb, two teachers, Saad Al-Mughni and Khaled Abdullah Ali Najim, were taken by the militia.

Another teacher, Saleh Al-Afeef, was abducted in Al-Makhaadir District, north of Ibb.

A recent human rights report documented 83 civilian abductions in Ibb between March 1 and July 20, 2025, including educators, students, traders, and academics.

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms reported a disturbing array of abuses, including enforced disappearances and targeting of specific groups.
