The Houthi militia has prohibited a theatrical performance scheduled to take place in Ibb, Yemen, during the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The ban was imposed on a production by the National Theater Group, which had announced plans to stage a social comedy play as part of the festivities.
According to local sources, the militia's supervisor in Ibb, Abdul-Fattah Ghalb, was behind the decision to ban the event.
The tickets for the performance had already been sold, and the audience and theater members were surprised by the sudden cancellation.
The Houthi militia's restrictions on cultural events have been a recurring issue in areas under their control, sparking concerns about freedom of expression and artistic creativity
