ؤFoggy international stance is a lifeline for the Houthis and a cover for their crimes against Yemenis

Along the line of the Yemeni crisis, the attitudes and roles of the international community towards the Houthi militia remain clouded by nebulousness that the legitimate government had long denounced, regarding as a moral failure and a blatant duplication of the norms of the international system and international law.

The contradictions of the UN envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg come in his last two statements as a living example of the international failure in dealing with the Yemeni crisis, where the envoy, on December 7, stated in a sharp tone that the implementation of the road map for countries that can count all the operations sent to Yemen Peace.

And on December 10, just three days after his first statement, Grundberg said that peace in Yemen was possible. He returned to invite right-wing parties to engage in the roadmap, avoiding condemning and holding the Houthis responsible for contradicting his previous position.

The policy of collusion with Houthis and the apparent contradictions in the international community’s attitudes towards the terrorist militia have formed a lifeboat to which the theocratic Houthi militia has turned whenever it senses the imminence of the end of its illegitimate existence, throughout its years of war with the legitimate government.

- A collusion that legitimizes crimes:

Since the Houthi militia took control of Sana'a in 2014, its leadership or supervisors have not faced effective and real sanctions to deter them from violating human rights or violating international law, while the international community has remained silent - at times - with shy condemnations and expressions of "concern".

In this context, journalist and writer Saif al-Hadhiri says, that the international community is appears largely complicit and tolerant of the practices of the Houthi militia and its violations of the right of Yemenis.

In an exclusive interview with "Al-Sahawa Net", he said that this collusion opened the field for the Houthi militia to act without fear of serious international consequences, and encouraged the militia to expand the circle of violence, including the bombing of civilian areas, the use of landmines, the recruitment of children and others.

During the current December alone, the Houthi militia committed dozens of violations and civilian crimes in the provinces of Taiz and Hodeidah alone, the most prominent of which was the Maqbana massacre in Taiz, which left 14 civilians dead and wounded as a result of the Houthi militia's targeting of small markets.
