New hostage dies of torture in terrorist Houthi militia-run jail

A hostage has died in the prisons of the terrorist Houthi militia due to brutal torture he had been subjected to in a secret detention center in the Hoban district east of Taiz, legal sources today .

The sources said Ahmed Taher al-Sharabi died of torture in a building in the city of Saleh that militias have turned into a large prison for oppositionists to its theocratic rule and rights abuses in the country.

The government condemned the crime, calling it “heinous" addition to the terrorist militia's record replete with violations and crimes against humanity.

The Houthis had kidnapped al-Sharabi, forcibly detained him in inhumane conditions, before asking his family, on December 11, to attend the receipt of his dead body after he died under torture, Yemen Information Minister Muammar Al-Eriyani said.

He said this brutal act by the Houthis shows indifference to the lives of Yemenis, and constantly reminds us of the tragedy of thousands of detainees and the forcibly disappeared in militia's detention centers, including women and children.
