The family of slain cleric Sheikh Abdullah Al-Bani has stated that the work on completing the dossier of contest against the decision to transfer the case of their relative's assassination to the military court is still suspended, as the legal team awaits the response of the defendants' lawyers.
Abdullah Al-Bani, "one of the martyr's relatives", said in a special statement to "Al-Sahwa Net" that the concerned party had filed an appeal against the issued rulings, and the Public Prosecution had also filed its appeal, but the responses from the defendants' lawyers have not been completed yet.
He added that only one lawyer out of three lawyers for the defendants has responded so far, while the other two lawyers continue to delay, despite the deadline they were given.
The Shabwa Appeals Court had previously referred the case of the murder of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Bani to the military court, citing a lack of jurisdiction. This decision comes after the initial court rejected a similar request. The case involves the killing of Sheikh Al-Bani by members of the Shabwa Defense Forces, who shot him after he delivered his Eid al-Fitr sermon in the Bayhan district.
