Yemeni CSOs slam briefing presented to UN Security Council

Alsawa Net- Over 25 civil society organizations have slammed what they called the bias of a briefing presented on Tuesday by Mwatana Organizations for Human Rights before the United Nations Security Council on Yemen's situation.

The organizations reiterated that Mwatana's briefing was biased, signaling out that it ignored gross crimes committed by the Houthi-Saleh militias who took over power by force, expelled the elected president, annulled the dialogue, bombed civilians, and committed crimes against civilians.

In a statement signed by 26 Yemeni CSOs, they underlined that the crimes committed by the Houthi-Saleh militias included torture, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, holding civilians as hostages, abductions, child recruitments, sabotages, lootings, forced displacement of civilian, violence against civilians, explosion of mosques and homes, killing of child, women and elderly men, execution of journalists, preventing relief organizations from providing relief for civilians and others.

The statement urged the UN Security Council to invite independent, unbiased and professional organizations to speak before the council, pointing out that the participation of organizations from a specific geographic scope may conceal significant information and facts.
