FM: There is no Omani mediation regarding Yemen

Alsahwa Net- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi has ruled out that that there is an Omani mediation to resume peace negotiations between Yemeni conflicting sides, spelling out that his visit to Muscat was in the framework of mutual relations between Yemen and Oman.

He asserted that the Yemeni government will continue supporting efforts made by the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Esmail Ould Cheikh Ahmed in accordance with the basic terms of reference.

Reuters had quoted a Yemeni official as saying that Oman mediates between Yemen President Abdo Rabbu Mansour Hadi and Houthi rebels regarding a UN plan aiming at resuming peace negotiations.

Al-Mekhlafi underlined that the Houthi-Saleh militias are not serous to reach peace and that they neglect the suffering of Yemenis, pointing out that they refused to deal with Ould Cheikh Ahmed and attacked his convoy in Sana'a.

He revealed that Ould Cheikh went to Sana'a with the aim of discussing the surrender of Hodeidah to a third party, and that the Houthi-Saleh militias refused to meet him, stressing that the Yemeni government will continue liberating all Yemeni territories, if the militias continue its rejection of peaceful initiatives an suggestions.
