Gaza: 8000 martyrs, as Egypt accuses Israeli occupation of hindering the entry of aid

On the 23rd day of the Israeli war on Gaza, Israel bombed several areas by air, sea and land, and its raids left dozens of people dead and injured in the south and center of the besieged Strip, bringing the toll to more than 8,000 martyrs - including about 3,200 children - in addition to nearly 20,000 wounded, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Incursions into the West Bank

Late Saturday and early Sunday, the Israeli occupation also escalated its incursions into West Bank cities and camps, as it blew up a house in the old Askar camp in Nablus, while its incursion into the Jenin camp was met with violent resistance from the Palestinian Jenin Brigade, which announced the targeting of its vehicles and the downing of its drone, along with Nablus.

In Jenin, the occupation stormed the cities of Ramallah, Tubas, Bethlehem, and Tulkarm, leaving civilians dead and injured

Devastating consequences

UN officials criticized the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip and the cutting off of communications, and warned of the consequences for civilians, while Egypt accused Israel of obstructing the entry of international aid into Gaza through the Rafah crossing. The Arab Gulf states also warned of the repercussions of Israeli ground operations in Gaza.

United Nations Human Rights Commissioner Volker Türk said that the intensification of the Israeli bombing of Gaza had brought the “terrible” crisis to a new level of violence. He added that bombing communications infrastructure exposes the civilian population to grave danger.

Turk said the ambulance and civil defense teams were no longer able to locate the injured, suggesting that thousands of people were likely under the rubble. He said that the humanitarian consequences would be devastating and long-lasting, calling for every effort to be made to calm the conflict.

Israeli obstruction of aid

Egypt also accused Israel of obstructing the entry of international aid into Gaza, and a spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Israeli procedures in inspecting trucks impede the immediate delivery of aid from Egypt to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing.
