The Houthi militia has prevented the entry of commercial trucks into various customs outlets set up by the militia it in a number of governorates under the militia's armed control stipulating they pay new nefarious taxes if they want to be allowed to pass.
Commercial sources said that the Houthi militia prevented the entry of trucks belonging to hundreds of merchants at the Nehm, Aqar and Al-Rahda outlets, which it established to impose financial levies on merchants years ago.
The sources added that the militia prevented the trucks from entering unless they paid new nefarious taxes even though the merchants are paying the existing taxes that the militia had imposed for years.
According to the sources, the Houthi militia seeks to force merchants who have a customs declaration to pay 14% new taxes, while merchants who do not have a customs declaration to pay double 28% new taxes.
The merchants refused the new levies, threatening to escalate and gather in front of the Tax Authority in Sana'a, as an expression of their absolute rejection of these levies.
The Houthi militia imposes large financial levies and royalties on merchants in the various customs outlets created in the governorates under its control, which negatively affected the prices of food, commercial and basic commodities and turned people's lives into hell.
