Govt warns of Houthi systematic destruction of banking sector and commercial banks

The government has renewed its warning against the Houthi systematic destruction of the banking sector and commercial banks in the areas controlled by the coup militia.

The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, said, "The refusal of the terrorist Houthi militia to pay the money of depositors in banks under its control, justifying the lack of cash liquidity and the inability of banks to pay their obligations to their customers in cash, falls within the policy of impoverishment, starvation, looting and organized theft of citizens' money and property since
the coup against the state.

Muammar Al-Eryani explained that the Houthi militia plundered the state's public treasury, cash reserves, and employee salaries, and continued to plunder public revenues for nine years, and practiced extortion against the banking and private sectors, and today it robbed the bank balances of millions of citizens, estimated at hundreds of billions, to turn them into fake numbers and electronic accounts that leave them able to use their money for nothing except in paying utility bills for the benefit of the militia.

Al-Eryani pointed out that this dangerous step confirms the Houthi militia's continued implementation of its plan to destroy the banking sector and commercial banks in the areas under its control, with the aim of total control of the commercial sector and control of the national economy, without any regard for the difficult economic and humanitarian conditions.

Since the coup of the terrorist Houthi militia against state institutions in late 2014, it has seized the funds of government banks, especially the Central Bank, and has turned that money into a war effort to support its fighting fronts.

The Yemeni economy has witnessed a major collapse since the coup, and the militia has tried to maintain a fake and unreal exchange rate in its areas of control.
