Thousands of people from Shabwa governorate, on Friday afternoon, mourned martyr Sheikh Abdullah Al-Bani, one of the most prominent religious figures in the province and director of the local health office in Bayhan district, who was assassinated by members of Shabwa Defense militia on the morning of Eid Al-Fitr.
The masses of mourners led by the former Minister of Awqaf, Dr. Ahmed bin Attia, the deputy governor of Shabwa Governorate, Muhammad al-Fatimi, military leaders, sheikhs, dignitaries, and academic and medical figures, amid popular and societal consensus on the need to expedite the trial of the perpetrators and arrest the rest of them urgently, amid demands for a transparent and impartial investigation.
The mourners who flocked from the various directorates of the province performed the funeral prayer and paid tributes to the martyr in the Yarmouk square, and the body was buried in the Khalidiya cemetery in his hometown in the village of Al-Wusta, more than forty-five days after his assassination, which sparked a state of anger and resentment among the community.
