The spokesman for the government negotiating team regarding the prisoners, Majid Fadayel, held the Houthi militia responsible for the failure to start mutual visits to the prisoners of both sides.
In statements to Anadolu Agency, Fadayel said, "The Houthi militia insists on selectivity in prisoner visits, and has refused to allow visits to some prisoners and abductees, especially the prominent politician Muhammad Qahtan, who is included in Security Council Resolution No. 2216, which urged his release."
He added, "If the Houthis agree and allow Qahtan to visit and communicate with his family, it will facilitate the mutual visits of the prisoners, and then the start of new negotiations."
Muhammad Qahtan is one of the four included in UN Security Council Resolution 2216, which obliges the Houthis to release him, and so far the militia has released three of those personalities, while the fate of Qahtan remains unknown since his abduction from his home in Sana'a in 2015.
