Deputy Minister of Human Rights, and member of the government team in the Committee on Prisoners, Kidnapped and Forcibly Disappeared, Majed Fahayel, has said in a tweet that the Houthi militia show constant intransigence in the face of demands to free Yemeni veteran politician Mohammed Qahtan.
He stressed that the government committee negotiating for the release of pro-government prisoners from the Houthi jails has issue of Professor Muhammad Qahtan during the prisoner exchange negotiations, along with the issue of the other detainees and prisoners, but the Houthi militias were intransigent from the first moment regarding Qahtan in particular and refused to consider his issue.
He indicated that the partial prisoner exchange of yesterday had gone through multiple stages of negotiation, including that each party provides information about the case of the prisoners and the kidnapped to the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary -General of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, stressing that the Houthi militia refuses this until now regarding Qahtan, as well as accepting to negotiate on his release.
Meanwhile, the deputy head of the media department of the Islah party, Adnan Al -Audaini, said in a tweet on Saturday, "It is no surprise that the gang that forcibly disappears a civilian they kidnapped from his home 8 years ago, without allowing him even to contact his family or be visited, that they (the gang) lie and fake truths.
The Houthi militia had spread the falsehood that the Islah party is not interested in negotiating about Qahtan's release, whilst the terrorist militia are themselves not accepting negotiations regarding his release.
