The head of the Islah party, Muhammad Abdullah al-Yadumi, said that Islah's veteran member and politician Muhammad Qahtan who is in Houthi jail since 2015 has become a national symbol and a courageous freedom fighters thanks to the national values and principles he upheld held the face of violence.
Speaking to the party's main website to "Al-Islah Net" on the eighth anniversary of Qahtan's kidnapping by the Houthi militia, Al-Yadumi said today that the path of national civil struggle that Muhammad Qahtan was pioneering terrified the Houthi militia, so the militia resorted to their barbaric method of kidnapping him and disappearing him all these years, along with many other political leaders, and thousands of regular civilian activists such as journalists.
He stressed that Muhammad Qahtan will remain a national symbol for all Yemenis, who knew him as a man of politics, dialogue and bridging ties between the national forces for more than two decades, and that his enforced disappearance at the hands of the Houthi militia will only increase his composure and consolidate him further in the national memory.
