Report: 1,022 civilians killed and wounded by Houthi landmines during the "calm" year

In its latest report, the National Commission for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms (Hood) has documented the huge human and material losses left by the Houthi landmines during the "calm" year in Yemen's protracted war , which year extends from January 2022 to February 2023.

 The report, which was titled (Yemen: Landmines and peace), documented 1,022 civilian casualties as a result of the blast of landmines and other explosive devices belonging to the Houthi militia, during the period from January 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023, stressing that among the victims were 388 children and 96 women,
and 100 elderly.

 According to the report, the monitoring team verified the death of 386 civilians in 17 Yemeni governorates, as a result of mines, improvised explosive devices and unexploded ordnance, planted and left behind by the Houthi group, with the victims including 128 children, 25 women and 38 elderly, in addition to the wounding of 637 other civilians, including 260 children, 71 women and 62 elderly persons.
