Britain's Royal Navy said on Thursday it had seized Iranian weapons last month from a smuggling boat in international waters in the Gulf of Oman, including anti-tank guided missiles.
Britain said that a US intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance plane spotted the boat as it sailed south from Iran at high speed during the hours of darkness, and was also tracked by a British helicopter.
According to the British Ministry of Defense, the boat initially tried to sail into Iranian territorial waters when it received a call from the Royal Navy, but was stopped and boarded by a team of Royal Marines who confiscated the suspicious packages.
