The UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, arrived today, Monday, in Sana'a, to discuss renewing the humanitarian truce, which has been expired for more than three months. On October 2, a truce that lasted for 6 months ended, after the Houthi militia rejected all international efforts to renew it. Today, Monday evening, the Security Council will hold its monthly meeting on Yemen to discuss developments in the military and humanitarian developments, and the latest efforts regarding reviving the humanitarian Truce Agreement. Grundberg is scheduled to provide his regular briefing to the Security Council via video from Sanaa, on his recent efforts to re-establish the armistice agreement, including his meeting on January 5 with Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, his visit to Muscat on January 11 and his discussions with senior Omani officials on regional efforts and the international community to renew the armistice and work towards a political settlement in the country.
