An important address by the head of Islah on the party's 32nd anniversary

The head of the Yemeni Congregation for Reform (Islah) party delivered an address to the party's members and fans on Monday evening, the eve of the thirty-second anniversary of the party's founding.

Mr. Mohammed Al-Yadoomi said, "As we celebrate the 3nd year since the party's establishment, we emphasize the Islah's constant attitude toward national partnership in the present and the future to cunter the challenges facing the nation, on top of which is the coup of the Iran-backed Houthi militia."

Al-Yadoomi said the Islah contributed to entrenching the values of the two glorious revolutions (26 September and 14 October) among the masses of the Yemeni people in general, and among its affiliates from all groups and segments of society who found in the Islah a safe haven for belonging, work and construction, due to the party's moderate approach, moderation of thought, patriotism of motives, and the effectiveness of programs reflecting the people’s identity and Islamic beliefs, human rights values, and the history and legacy of the national movement’s struggles in the face of the priesthood and tyranny of the Imamate and the hateful colonialism.

Excerpts of the address:

"Today, as we celebrate the thirty-second anniversary of (Islah's) founding, we affirm Islah’s firm stance towards national partnership in the present and the future to face the challenges that the country is going through, foremost of which is the Iranian-backed Houthi coup, and liberation from the complexes and legacy of past conflicts between the national forces and components in all its forms, to join efforts to save a the nation's boat to avoid sinking in the quagmire of fragmentation, and stop the illusions of the ability of any one party to abolish or exclude other stakeholders, as this will multiply problems and establish more chaos that harms the overall project, the security and stability of Yemen and its Gulf and Arab surroundings, and national and international security in favor of Iranian hegemony projects and the rest of the groups of extremism and terrorism."

"The Islah has emphasized and continues to emphasize that the reality of Yemen and its political and social structure does not accept in any way the dominion of any party over the political decision. Therefore, the principle of partnership stipulated in the Islah's literature has been confirmed by the facts of events and evidence of practical experience, which made it a well-established approach. In the party’s politics from the very beginning, since the early democratic experiment in the unified Yemen, Islah contributed to the establishment of the tripartite coalition between the Islah parties. the People's General Congressand the Socialist paties, then participated in the government with the General People’s Congress according to the results of the 1993 elections, then withdrew from participation after the results of the 1997 elections, and in 2003, it actively participated with the rest of the partners in the political opposition, in establishing the Joint Meeting Bloc, as a political framework that was counted a unique experience in the Arab region, as it contributed to enriching political life, in terms of consolidating the principle of transferring partial differences, rallying around common denominators, and making peaceful struggle the basis for engaging in political competitions, and reforming official institutions. With the outbreak of the peaceful popular revolution in the year 2011 AD, the Islah contributed With a high responsibility in pushing towards safe exits for the peaceful transfer of power in accordance with the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, submitted by the Gulf Cooperation Council countries led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which represented a safe way out to overcome the political impasse according to a partnership formula between all political parties within the lists of representation in the Government of National Accord And when the Houthi militia carried out its fateful coup in 2014, through which it sabotaged the republican regime … and tightened its grip on state institutions, and turned against the national consensus represented by the outcomes of the National Dialogue. At all levels, the Islah stood firmly to narrow agendas that tried to detract people from legitimacy to achieve narrow goals and interests, and the party made a strenuous effort in order to unify the national ranks to confront the new Imami theocrats, and also supported the efforts made by the Arab coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to make the Riyadh conference held in Saudi Arabia a success.

"And because Islah has consistently proceeded to unify visions and positions, and to unite ranks to confront the Iranian-backed Houthi rebellion, and in continuation of that national approach based on the principle of consensual partnership in managing the stage, it has responded to the call of the brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council to hold a consultative conference in Riyadh, under the auspices of the Council’s General Secretariat And the supervision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which resulted in the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council headed by Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, based on the presidential declaration issued on the seventh of last April by the former President, Field Marshal Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, where that declaration emphasized the principle of consensus in state administration and decision-making as a basis. The legitimacy of the Council, given that the consensual national partnership is considered the solid ground on which the comprehensive national project based on coexistence and cooperation rests.

Al-Yadoumi stressed that any ignorance of this principle by any political party will lead the country to the unknown and, accordingly, the Islah remained and will remain committed to the requirements of consensual partnership, overriding the supreme national interests over others, as it is the guarantor of achieving the goals and interests of restoring the state in a democratic federal Yemen that includes all."

Responsibility of the Presidential Council

Al-Yadoumi, stated that the requirements of the stage require concerted efforts to support the various state institutions, with the need to correct mistakes and not accept deviation from the consensual strategy.

Al-Yadoumi said that the Presidential Leadership Council bears the greatest burden in consolidating and strengthening the principle of consensus and moving forward in achieving national goals, with its delegation of powers of the Presidency to carry out the national tasks entrusted to it, represented in unifying national efforts to integrate paramilitary forces into the army and regular security institutions, with the aim of ending the coup and restoring the state and the extension of the council's influence over the entire national territory, and the preservation of the sovereignty and independence of the nation and of society, and enabling all state institutions to carry out their duties and responsibilities from Aden.

Al-Yadoumi stressed the unification of goals and paths towards strengthening the end of the coup of the Houthi militia, which rejects all peace efforts and initiatives, and repudiates the implementation of the provisions of the agreements, the last of which was the refusal to lif the siege on the city of Taiz, which is still a witness to the brutality and savagery of the coupist Houthi militia.

He added: This is what needs to be done in the care of the displaced in the Ma’rib Al-Abya Governorate, which represented a safe haven for everyone affected by the war and brutality of the Houthi militia, as it welcomed hundreds of thousands of displaced people, while its righteous men from various tribes, forces and components rose up.

Demand to address the tensions in Shabwa and hold culprits accountable

Al-Yadoumi said that the sensitivity of the current stage also requires that the Presidential Council and the government stand firmly to address the security irregularities, stop the massive violations of human rights, and correct the deviations that occur in some liberated governorates, specifically those where matters have deviated from the course of the main battle, and this will only come by ending the tension.

He pointed to the violent overthrow of the regular army and security units by militants from outside the army's official institutions, with the help of armed drones that killed Shabwa civilians as well as government soldiers.

Al-Yadoumi demanded swift accountability and dismissal of those involved in igniting and fueling sedition in Shabwa, addressing the latest war's repercussions and removing its effects, and returning the situation to normal to heal the wounds and prevent sustainable disputes.

Al-Yadoumi called on all the people of Shabwa and its lively political groups, to overcome the internal differences, and to move towards strengthening the values of brotherhood, cooperation and partnership, in order to serve the public interest.

Al-Yadoumi said that the Presidential Council and the government should assume great responsibilities to curb this frightening collapse, stand by our people in their plight and lift the suffering off their shoulders, by providing basic services and supporting the national currency, and monitoring the prices of food and pharmaceutical commodities.

Al-Yadoumi called on the Presidential Council and the government to pay attention to the level of educational performance in schools and universities in a way that meets the aspirations and hopes of our children in the future, while reconsidering the low wages of teachers to raise them and make them meet their needs according to the living conditions, calling on the Council and the government to do everything that would preserve the national identity that the Houthi militia seeks to undermine by bringing an alien culture to our society

Rejecting all forms of terrorism

Al-Yadoumi, also affirmed Islah’s rejection of terrorism practiced by violent and extremist groups in all its forms and manifestations, and Islah’s position in support of national, regional and international efforts to combat this scourge that threatens local and international peace.

Al-Yadoumi also renewed the call for reform, which he launched on the thirtieth anniversary of the party’s founding, to develop a national strategy to confront terrorism, targeting the roots that nourish it with factors of survival, and provide it with the elements of continued violence and put an end to treacherous and cowardly assassinations.

Supporting peace efforts according to references

Al-Yadoumi referred to the position of Islah in support of efforts to establish peace and end the war within the framework of the official position of the state, and in light of the efforts made by the UN envoy, the US special envoy and the international community, in order to establish a just peace, on the basis of agreed references.

Al-Yadoumi said that the Houthi militia has no real desire for peace, but rather uses agreements, including the truce agreement, to gain time and mobilize more tools of war and destruction provided by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
