Islah official calls on UN to assume its responsibility towards besieged Taiz

The acting secretary general of the Islah party has called on the UN and its Yemen envoy to assume their responsibility towards the besieged Taiz city by forcing Houthi terrorists to lift the years long siege.

MP Abdurazzak Al-Hajri said in a meeting with the UN envoy Hans Grundberg on Wednesday, "At a time when the city's residents … are expecting the opening of roads as per the April truce agreement, the Houthi militia carried out new aggressive operations" to close the last road to the city.

He said by these actions, the Houthi militia have rendered the UN-brokered truce worthless.

He said the terrorist militia believes in violence only, regretted the lack of serious UN stance. He said the UN has to take serious actions that measure up to the severity of the Houthi atrocities.

Al-Hajri said peace won't materialize in Yemen without ending the coup and restoring the Yemeni state as the sole authority with the right to possess weapons.
