Man and child killed by Houthi-laid landmine in eastern Yemen: Sources

A man and a child were killed in the explosion of a Houthi-laid landmine in the road linking Aljawf and Marib provinces in eastern Yemen on Friday, local sources have said.

The sources said Hadi Mohammed Daboos and Saleh Ali Waqyan died when the car they were riding hit a landmine on Friday and the car wholly burned in the explosion.

In the past few hours five children have reportedly been wounded by a landmine, planted by the Houthi militia in an earlier time in Saada and Hajjah in north Yemen.

The terrorist Houthi militia have reportedly killed and injured more than 130 thousand civilians by landmines alone in the past eight years. Despite the mine clearance efforts in Yemen and removal of more than 320 thousand landmines  especially by the Saudi program of MASAM, hundreds of thousands of more landmines still pose a threat to civilians. The Yemeni government said the landmines planted by the terrorist militia are the largest number planted by a single group anywhere in the world since World War II.
