Marib: In wake of coalition's unilateral ceasefire declaration, unprcedented Houthi escalation

For theocratic extremist Shia with ambitions set as high as the Arabian Peninsula, whatever the variable, the equation's outcome in their calculations should always be a fiercer military escalation and undeterred struggle to expand territorial control.

The Saudi-led coalition's declaration on Wednesday of a cessation of airstrikes that barely help defend the government's last northern stronghold of Marib has lent a momentum to the non-stopping war of the Shia (known as Houthis) on the city.

The externally-backed Shia, who really are the only faction allowed to acquire armament and depend on themselves, have amassed more fighters and military hardware including artillery to the province's southern frontlines, sources in the field day.

Waves of several hundreds of easily found and recruited children began flooding the province's borders again and attacking the army's positions including in the eastern Al-Balaq strategic mountains.

The army repelling the attackers killed and injured over 200 of them since the beginning of the day, a knowledgeable source said today.

When the Biden administration in February 2021 revoked their short-lived terror designation, the Shia interpreted it as a green light and waged a mega bloodbath-like war sacrificing in the duration of one year about 30 thousand lives to achieve their goals- mostly of radicalized children.
