Amidst int'l silence, Shia extremists move from suicidal ground war to ballistic missiles option

As Houthis' suicidal push toward Marib last month failed to get them to control the government-held city despite hundreds of casualties on both sides, the Shia extremists have moved to the option of ballistic missiles again.

This Sunday afternoon, the modernly armed Shia extremists consecutively fired three ballistic missiles on Al-Rowdha neighborhood north of the city killing four civilians and wounding five others including two women, according to local sources.

A police source in the city commented on the attack saying the Houthi militia "as usual vent frustration as their repeated bloody offensives on Marib fail to achieve their goal."

Political analyst Hamoud Al-Rifa'ee told Al-Sahwa said the "Houthi militia have failed to capture Marib despite a never-stopping war since the beginning of 2020 and despite increasing the rate of violence of the attempts higher and higher every time." "They intensify it upon international gestures they interpret as a green light for them to continue, like last February's US announcement of intent to reverse their terror designation. They step up offensives in the lead-up to important occasions, religious or national, hoping to celebrate victory by the day."

He said despite pumping hundreds of fighters including children and  causing them to be killed "and of course leaving a significant toll of casualties on the other side and successfully besieging tens of thousand of people  in Albdiya villages south of Marib, the militia failed to overtake the city." As a result, he said, "they have moved to the option of ballistic missiles, enjoying the international silence and pampering that allows them to wage an insane war however long it takes and whatever methods they need to kill oppositionists."
