Civilians killed and displaced, houses demolished in heaviest Houthi shelling in Marib outskirt

Several dozens of civilians were killed, wounded or displaced and nine houses were demolished in the fiercest Houthi attack in months in an outskirt of Yemen's eastern Marib province, local sources have said.

Two sources in Rahabah district said six civilians were killed, 12 were wounded and around 50 others displaced as Houthis intensified their long war on Marib. "The Houthi militia has been shelling the area with a barrage of rockets and mortar rounds for three days almost without stopping in a bid to achieve some advance," one source said.

"The war never stops, but they escalate on all national and religious occasions especially their sectarian ones like September 21, the anniversary of their overthrow of the government. They are starting early this year and the attacks will get more and more ferocious until September 21, as every year."

The source said the civilians "displaced today had just returned to their houses from a previous displacement. They keep fleeing, returning and fleeing and so forth because the Houthis keep trying to capture on the area without stopping."
