Yemen's President, in a meeting with the country's central bank and prime minister, has laid emphasis on keeping the central bank independent and taking measures to stop the contribution of private banks to the national currency's devaluation by trading in the riyal.
According to Saba, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi also ordered relocation of commercial banks' headquarters from the Houthi-controlled Sana'a to the supposed temporary capita of Aden where the central bank is.
But Aden is effectively under the control of the UAE's STC militia and the government has only a nominal civilian presence – some ministers.
