Islah renews demands for int'l investigation into Aden assassination crimes

Yemen's Congregation for Reform (the Islah) party has renewed its demands for an international investigation into the assassination crimes that targeted hundreds of nationalist symbols including members of the party in the city of Aden over the past five years.

In a statement on Saturday on the 5th anniversary of the assassination of Saleh Huleis, the director of the party's first office opened in the southern city after the merge of north and south Yemen, the party demanded "an international commission to investigate into the crimes of assassination that has targeted in Aden province over the past five years political, military, and security leaders, religious scholars, mosque leaders and social figures."

The party also demanded "the start of legal proceedings in the national courts."

"The passage of five years without any real investigation [into the crimes] is a shame on the judicial institutions and law enforcement institutions," read the statement.

The party said the assassinations aimed at making Aden empty from influential figures on top of which was Saleh Huleis who was a man of politics, thought and enlightening and one of  nationalist symbols who sought to spread social peace in the nation.
