Islah head welcomes new UN envoy, hopes he has roadmap to prevent Yemen slide to the abyss

The head of the Yemen Congregation for Reform (Islah) party has welcomed the new UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, wishing him success in his mission.

Mr. Mohammed Alyadoomi said in a Facebook post the Yemeni people "rejoice every time a UN envoy is appointed to implement the Security Council resolutions and the (UN envoys') repeated declarations that they aim to end the coup" and help the Yemenis live their normal "dignified life" dominated "by justice, equality and the peaceful transfer of power."

However, Alyadoomi said: "For more than 10 years, the UN envoys flock to Yemen without anyone of them beginning where his processor had left off. They all start from the zero point (doing the same): Recurring visits; numerous meetings; constant inquiring about what the legitimate (government) - or who earnestly rotate in its orbit - have to say which is not in the government's favor or can be so interpreted; and a striking rush to rebrand the putschist (Houthi) militia from their true image to a legitimate authority image and making them seem almost like a full-fledged political party."

"We welcome our guest and wish that he succeeds in his mission and (has) a roadmap to prevent the slide into a bottomless abyss."
