Yemenis say UN’s former envoy is completing his mission of strengthening Houthis

As part of the deeply-rooted satisfaction in Yemen that the UN is a main supporter of the Houthis in Yemen, Yemeni observers are accusing the UN’s former envoy Jamal Benomar of working to “complete’ his mission of supporting the Shiit terrorist network that with an international conspiracy to their side have destroyed Yemen and gained control over most of Yemen’s north.

Political analyst Abdulnaser Al-Muwade’a said the former UN Special Envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomar “has made a forceful comeback - through media channels and an organization he founded - in order to complete his mission of strengthening Houthis.”

In a tweet, Al-Muwade’a said that Benomar during his tenure as a Yemen envoy (from April 2011 – 25 April 2015) “had contributed to the collapse of Yemen after he facilitated the expansion of Houthis from Saada to the capital Sana’a and misled the UN Security Council about” the then ongoing events.”  And now he has made a comeback “through the CNN with an article” that calls for “vacating the Security Council’s resolution no. 2216” which was supposed to force an end to the Houthi coup in Yemen but was not put into effect.

“The question that everyone needs to ask is ‘for whom Benomar worked [when he was an envoy]? And for whom he works now?’.”
