Yemen calls on Security Council to set limit for Houthi escalation

Yemen’s government has called on the UN Security Council to set a limit for Houthi escalation including in a safe haven for refugees in the country’s east.

Foreign Minister Ahmed Awadh Bin Mubarak said in a meeting with the Russian ambassador to Yemen that it is “essential the Security Council takes the necessary measures to set a limit to the Houthi military escalation, recurring rights violations … and destabilization of Yemen and the region.”

The internationally pampered Shia version of Daesh have been waging non-stopping wars at short intervals since 2020. The latest round against Marib, a city hosting three million escapees from the Houthis, began when the US removed the militia’s name from the US terror list.
