Freed journalist tells tales of horrific torture experienced in Houthi jails

Alsahwa Net- Yemeni journalist Ahmed Hawdhan was unfortunate like everyone who falls in Houthi hands. From the moment of his arrest covering the "Uprising of the Hungry" in Sana'a in late September 2018 to his release in a Houthi-government prisoner exchange in September 2019 , Hawdhan was frequently blindfolded, hanged on the wall, severely assaulted and slapped in the face during lengthy torture sessions from the afternoon time to 2:00 am. In an interview with al-Bilad newspaper, he said five Houthi militants took turns to keep lashing him with wooden planks and electrified rods. He was also subjected to mock executions, threats, and other forms of torture in an insects-infested detention cell.
