Houthis shut down 86 medical centers in Sana’a

Alsahwa Net-The Houthis have closed 86 medical centers in the capital Sana’a claiming that they violated health regulations.

However, medical sources said that the action is intended to extort owners of the targeted facilities to pay illegal money.

The Houthis said that they closed completely 86 medical centers, partially closed 24 others and withdrew licenses of other centers.

It also declared one unified fare in all private health clinics and hospitals.

The Houthis took similar action early this year against 12 hospitals and medical centers citing the same claims. Yet, closed health centers were reopened after each one paid YR 5 million.

Like other private businesses, Health clinics in Houthis-held areas are vulnerable to frequent intimidation and extortion.
