Mahwit: 35 child soldiers from one tribe killed while fighting for Houthis

Alsahwa Net- Local sources said that 35 child soldiers coming from one tribe of Mahwit province, north Yemen, have been killed recently while fighting for the Houthis against the government’ forces in Marib, Al-Jawf and Al-Baida.

A recent report by the International and Regional Eminent Group of Experts on Yemen said that the Houthis use schools in provinces under their control for military purposes and force teachers to indoctrinate children and incite them to violence and join the Houthis’ forces.

It indicated that the Houthis run 429 committee at the province level to target schools for indoctrination and military recruitment. 

A previous report by the group of experts said that the Houthis perpetrated around 66,000 violations against the children across 17 Yemeni provinces between early January 2015 to 30 August 2019.

Another report by the Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms said that the Houthis killed nearly 4,000 children and injured other 5,000 youngsters during the same period.

The Houthis random shooting on residential areas has also maimed 164 children, according to the report.

It added that the Houthis abducted 456 children who remain in captivity until writing of this report.

It said that the Houthis recruited over 12,000 children and sent them to various warfronts.
