Gov’t condemns Houthis’ shutdown of 428 schools in Al-Jawf

Alsahwa Net-The Education Office in Al-Jawf, condemned the shutdown of 428 schools throughout the province by the Houthis group.

Some of the closed schools were changed into barracks, according to the government.

In a statement about the issue, the education office said that the shutdown of schools had led to 52,000 students out of schools in time these facilities were supposed to be open for the new school year. 

The office held the Houthis accountable to the shutdown of schools.

It appealed to the international organizations to condemn such practices and pressurize the Houthis to stop such violations against the education.

It indicated that the Houthis’ takeover of Al-Jawf led to the displacement of the public teachers due to intimidations that included arbitrary arrests and deductions of their monthly payments by the Houthis militants.

It said that the Houthis hinder the education to send students to the fighting fronts to fight for their side against the government’s forces.

It demanded international organizations to halt funding Houthis’ activities that fuel sectarian conflicts and promote extremism.
