Gov’t official: Houthis forcibly disappear over 3,500 people

Alsahwa Net- Undersecretary of Justice, Faisl Al-Majidi said that the Houthis militants have been forcibly disappearing over 3,544 Yemeni citizens.

The Saudi-Al-Hadath affiliated news television channel quoted Al-Majidi as saying that documented cases of enforced disappeared people that were submitted to the UN Security Council reached 3,544 cases among them 72 children and 17 women.

He indicated that the real number might be bigger as some families do not report disappearances of their relatives.

He called on the families to the victims to report cases of enforced disappearances to the prosecution to sue perpetrators particularly the Houthis’ leader, Abdulmalik Al-Houthi as these crimes are imprescriptible.

Al-Majidi accused the UN Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths of using rights of the disappeared people as a chip for bargaining solutions to other political issues.

He condemned some international organizations that agree on such approach in this regard.
