Taiz: Female relatives to detainees hold sit-in demand release of their relatives

Alsahwa Net- The Female Relatives to Detainees Association held a sit-in in before the office of Taiz governorate demanding release of their detained relatives from the Houthis-run prisons.

A statement released by the association said that the Houthis transferred 19 detainees from Al-Saleh Prison in Taiz city to the Central Security Prison in Sana’a to exchange them with their prisoners imprisoned by the government’s forces.

The detainees were taken to Sana’a without being allowed to take their personal items and they were banned visitation by their families.

The association said that the transfer of the detainees and untrue promise of their release coincides with the bombing of the community college prison in Dhamar early last September which resulted then into the death of 51 detainees from Taiz.

It expressed fear that this tragedy might be repeated as the Central Security Camp in Sana’a where the detainees have been relocated, was targeted several times by the Saudi-led warplanes.

It held the Houthis accountable to safety of the detainees and the enforced disappeared people and demanded the United Nations (UN) and its envoy to Yemen, to act on their release with no condition.
