Gov’t calls on the Red Sea countries address risks of the Safer tanker

Alsahwa Net- Minister of Information, Muamar Al-Eryani, welcomed on Thursday international stances that condemned procrastination by the Houthis to the risks of the Safer tanker and their use of it for extortion as a bargaining chip.

In a statement quoted by the state-run Saba News Agency, Al-Eryani said that the Houthis continue showing disregard to international condemnation that demand fulfill of their pledges to address risks of the oil spill or explosion of the Safer floating tanker.

He said that the oil tanker in the Red Sea would lead to environmental, economic and humanitarian disaster ten times worse than the blast of Beirut Port.

He affirmed that ignorance by the Houthis to international demands on this respect, confirms their indifference to the lives of the Yemenis and their efforts to damage the security and stability of Yemen, the region and world.

He called on the international community to materialize such stances into effective actions by intensifying pressures on the Houthis to avert the bad consequences of the Safer tanker oil spill.

He called on the Red Sea countries to unify their efforts at averting the looming disaster and taking collective stance towards this environmental and economic threat that risk the national security of those countries of the region and the world in general.
