Growing fury towards Houthis-racial act

Alsahwa Net-The Houthis’ attempts for imposing 20 percent Zakat (tax) for benefit of the Hashemites to be collected form the public resources and individuals’ incomes, has sparked extreme outrage among political activists and human rights defenders.

Several activists have emphasized the need to legislate a law the classifies Houthis a “terror group” and outlines belonging to the group.

These voices coincide with similar calls by western circles for adding the the Houthis to the terror-group list for their affiliation to the Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.

This was recommended by the Security Committee of the American Republican party.

The London-based Asharq Al-Awsat daily Newspaper, quoted spokesman of the Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights, Walid Al-Abara as saying that the chance is good to label the Houthis as a terror group by the legitimate government.

He said that such move will be similar to what the government of Iraq did when it designated the ISIS a terror group.

“The early designation of the ISIS as a terror group, had contributed at mobilizing citizens at home, decode their confusion towards the government’s fighting against the ISIS and mobilized international support,” Al-Abara said.

For his part, Ahmed Abas, a Yemeni media activist, said that legislating a Yemeni act criminalizing the Houthis’ racism has become an urgent need.
