Alsahwa Net-The Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al-Hadhrami sent on Sunday a letter to Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) about recent sabotage in Socotra by separation militants known as Southern Transitional Council (STC).
Socotra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site has been at risk of violence by several attempts of rebellion by the STC militia.
Al-Hadhrami said that acts of sabotage by the STC threaten serious damages to the archipelago of Socotra that might never be repaired.
Natural disasters caused by storms that hit Socotra in the few recent years has already led to human and property damage.
Al-Hadhrami called on the UNESCO to deplore acts of sabotage by the STC in Socotra and to swiftly send a panel of experts that was formed earlier to report about the situation in Socotra to identify natural and man-made threats.
