Houthis abduct seven female teachers in Sana’a

Alsahwa Net- The Houthis militants abducted on Monday seven female teachers in the capital Sana’a.

The government deplored the abduction and said that the act comes within a chain of a terror intimidation against the women in Yemen.

Minister of Information of the legitimate government, Muammar Al-Eryani said that the Houthis have been abusing Yemeni women since they implemented their coup in late 2014.

The abducted female teachers work as principals of public schools in the capital Sana’a.

Al-Eryani said that abduction of women by the Houthis violates all values and norms that respect women and criminalize any abuse against women under any condition.

The Houthis took the seven women to an unknown detention site.

Al-Eryani demanded the international community and the United Nations (UN) and its envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths and women protection organizations to clearly condemn the act.

He called on exercising pressures on the Houthis to stop their abuses against Yemeni women and to immediately release all female detainees.

The recent increasing of intimidation by the Houthis against civilians particularly women in Sana’a coincides with the fifth anniversary of the Saudi-led military campaign that began in late March 2015 that intends to end the Houthis rebellion and reinstate the government.
