Arbitrary detainees in Aden go on hunger strike

Alsahwa Net-  Scores of illegal detainees in Bair Ahmed Prison of Aden started on Thursday hunger strike demanding their release.

The Abductees’ Mothers Association, a local NGO that advocates for release of illegal political detainees, confirmed on Sunday the strike and appealed   immediate release of their relatives who have been in illegal confinement for over three years.

The detainees were thrown in prison by local southern gunmen in Aden known as the Southern Transitional Council (STC) which is affiliated to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The southern militants have been detaining the victims despite order for their release issued by government’s prosecution.

The association said that the militants have also banned visitation to the detainees which raises concerns for their health situations.

It called on relevant authorities to act for implementation of the detainees’ rights and set them free.
