Yemen slams Chief of UN Hodeida Mission

Alsahwa Net-  The government of Yemen slammed on Tuesday recent statement by chief of the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC) and Head of the United Nations (UN) Mission in Support of the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) Lieutenant General Abhijit Guha.

Minister of Information, Muammar Al-Eryani, held the UN Hodeida Mission accountable to failure of the Hodeida agreement implementation.

Guha said last Monday that airstrikes carried out on Sunday 8 March by the Saudi-led coalition on parts of Salif port, north Hodeida, hinder the peace process and jeopardize implementation of the Hodeida agreement.

Al-Eryani criticized Guha’s statement and said that it misleads the international community as the UN Hodeida mission often goes silent to scores of Houthis truce-daily violations in Hodeida.

He said that the Houthis were supposed to withdraw their militants from Hodeida city and ports in line to the Stockholm agreement on Hodeida, but this has never been materialized yet.

For his part, spokesman of the Saudi-led coalition, Turki Al-Malki said that Sunday’s airstrikes targeted military sites in Hodeida that the Houthis use for assembling waterborne improvised explosive devices that threaten international trade and maritime navigation routes.

Al-Eryani wrote on his Twitter account that the government of Yemen and the Saudi-led coalition will not allow the Houthis to use the Stockholm agreement to turn Hodeida ports into plants and stores of waterborne improvised explosive devices.
