Armed separatists assault female protesters in Aden

Alsahwa Net- Armed men of the southern separatists which operate under the Southern Transitional Council (STC) have assaulted on Monday morning detainees’ female relatives while on a sit-in before the Presidential Palace in Aden.

Hundreds of illegal detainees and arbitrary disappeared people remain in secret confinement by the STC militants who have been in control of Aden and other southern governorates since April 2016.

Female relatives of the detainees staged hundreds of protests in Aden demanding release of their loved ones with no response by the local militants who drove the government members out of the city early last August.

Local sources said that the STC militants assaulted a number of female protesters while on implementing a sit-in in front of the Presidential Palace.

The Abductees’ Mothers Association, a local NGO that advocate for rights and release of the illegal detainees, said in a statement that the government must meet its duty on disclosing fate of scores of abductees and forcibly disappeared people.

It also demanded the Saudi-led coalition to follow up implementation of the Al-Riyadh agreement and include the issue of arbitrary detainees on top priority of security and military preparations of the agreement implementation.

The assault against female protesters in Aden has become recursive in Aden. In late November, the STC rebels blocked a number of female protesters from holding a sit-in in front of the Presidential Palace.
