UN Envoy arrives Sana’a

Alsahwa Net- The United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, arrived the capital Sana’a on Sunday for meeting leaders of the Houthis group in an attempt to revive peace talks to end the conflict in Yemen.

This visit follows Griffiths’ briefing to the UN Security Council 48 hours ago where he suggested that positive signs exist to reach a comprehensive peace deal to the crisis in Yemen.

The United Nations seeks a peace deal to end the five-year war in Yemen, but its efforts failed so far because of the Houthis’ hinderance to implementation of previous agreements they signed with the government.

However, Yemen’s Prime Minister, Maeen Abdulmalik, stated that the Houthis group is neither competent nor ready to be part of a peace agreement.

He explained that violence is the prime characteristic of the Houthis and it is a pillar of their faith as they wage a war against their fellow citizens to only benefit Iran which exercises flagrant interference in home affairs of other countries.
