Yemen criticizes UN tolerance to Houthis’ breaching of ceasefire

Alsahwa Net- The Yemeni Foreign Minister, Mohamed Al-Hadhrami criticized on Tuesday tolerance by the United Nation (UN) to the Houthis’ violations and breaching to the ceasefire in Hodeida.

Al-Hadhrami deplored the UN for not naming the Houthis in statements that condemn escalations in Hodeida without holding the Houthis responsible to the incidents.

“This [tolerance] will encourage the Houthis to continue their violations to the ceasefire,” said Al-Hadhrami.

He voiced this during his meeting with the Ambassador of Germany to Yemen, Carola Muller-Holtkemper for discussing Yemen’s developments on light of the Al-Riyadh agreement that was signed on 5 November between the government and the southern rebels known as the Southern Transitional Council (STC).

He explained that signing of the agreement will unify all parties under the legitimate government.

He added that implementation of the agreement can preserve Yemen s security and stability and integrity of its territory against the Iran-backed Houthis.

He appreciated the Saudi efforts for sponsoring the agreement and providing warranties to its implementation.

He renewed his condemnation of the recent escalation by the Houthis rebels in Mocha city and Al-Duraihmi district that led to the death of civilians and destruction of a field hospital that used to be run by the Doctors without Borders.

For her part, Muller-Holtkemper, renewed her country’s support to the legitimate government and the UN peace efforts in Yemen.

She congratulated the Yemeni government for signing of the Al-Riyadh agreement that would contribute at peacebuilding in Yemen.
