Deputy foreign Minister: Diversion of UAE must be first addressed

Alsahwa Net- Mohamed Al-Hadrami, Deputy Foreign Minister, said on Wednesday that diversion of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) role within the Saudi-led coalition must be first resolved to ensure success of any dialogue.

Al-Hadrami affirmed his government’s welcome to the Saudi call for dialogue with the UAE-supported separation rebels in south Yemen.

He pronounced this during his meeting with deputy head of the European Union (EU) delegation to Yemen, Riccardo Villa, the state-run Saba News Agency reported.

The UAE which is a member of the Saudi-led coalition that launched a large-scale military campaign in 2015 to reinstate the government and end the Houthis’ coup.

However, the UAE turned against the government and obstructed government forces from securing liberated areas from the Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias that operate outside the government’s control and attempt to impose separation of south Yemen by force.

The government demanded repeatedly that the UAE stops supporting any militia that does not run by Yemen’s Defense Ministry or Interior Ministry.

Yet, the UAE responded late last August to these demands with aerial bombing against government troops who were on a mission to end an ongoing armed rebellion in Aden and Abyan, south Yemen.
