Over 1,000 mines cleared in one week

Alsahwa Net- The Masam landmines clearance project in Yemen said on Tuesday that over than 1,000 mines were removed in one week.

The cleared mines were planted by the Houthi militants across various parts of the country including schools, houses and farms.

A news release by Masam said that its workers removed 1,077 mines among them five antipersonnel landmines, 363 anti-tank mines, 635 unexploded ordnance and 74 explosive devices.

So far, the project cleared over 84,000 mines until end of August.

The Houthi militants camouflaged mines in disguised objects and colors that kill or maim large number of children and women.

The Masam project is a Saudi-funded mission in Yemen that aims to clear Yemen’s territory from landmines and unexploded ordnance that were left by the Houthis.
